| 1 | My goodness, you have done it! You are the first league owner to have ever won FOUR championship titles! My initial interview question should be easily served up on a platter, but I admit T-Gal, I am at a loss for words. Perhaps you can tell me if this has left a psychological impression on you. Does something as glorious as this impact your life that is above and beyond "just a game"? If so, explain the lasting effects: mentally, emotionally, spiritually......physically? | ||
| Fantasy Football is more than "just a game" if you put in your all. It becomes an obsession, but I feel (at least in my case) in a good way. Winning this fourth championship is exhilarating, and, at the same time, a relief. I can exhale and be proud of my efforts. The lasting effect is that the 2019 season is in the history books, and it is going to be difficult for anyone, including myself, to top it. | |||
| 2 | You mentioned the Aggregate Points record, and as the stat above reveals, you averaged 153.6 per game! The mean lineup score in our league has been 105 in our inaugural season to now 120 due to the NFL pinball-style play and league offensive schemes, allowing better management of rosters. Are you the rare owner who finds opportunities in the shifting schemes every year or is more the actual saaviness of drafting/acquiring player talent? I know they are synonymous, but specifically, what makes the Leprechauns tick? (Commish scribbles in a small notebook with a gel pen, nodding "uh-huh...uh-huh" as T-Gal speaks.) | ||
| To be successful in fantasy football, I think it is important to work on all phases of the game. Drafting well is just a small part of it. The waiver wire is just as important. I've seen some teams win fantasy championships with almost no one that was on their week 1 roster. It usually takes a few weeks to get a feel for my players and what schemes will work the best for them. I definitely shift schemes depending on NFL matchups, my opponent's tendencies, bye weeks, etc. This year, I went with Tribash Scamp almost every week except when Lamar was off (I won with Snapdragon). Then, after all that success with a 12-2 regular season, I used a different scheme for both playoff games. | |||
| 3 | I teased you back in 2016 for your nonaudacious style when playing the Suicide Tournament. You deserve congratulations on many things this year, but I especially laud you for finally winning that title! But that is not the question. I want you to play LEAGUE YEARBOOK EDITOR. Considering the 74 owners that have played in this great league, give the following fifteen superlatives to only one owner each. Also, provide a brief reason for each nomination: League Clown, League Flirt, League Partier, Best Strategist, Most Changed, Most Unique, League Shyest, Most League Spirit, Biggest League Failure, Most Gullible, Most Quotable, Most Underrated, Most Overrated, Best Franchise Name, Most Likely To Succeed. | ||
| It's everyone's most exciting time of the school year: The 2019 yearbooks are out today! Let's see if we got chosen for any league superlatives! In real life, I got chosen for Class Individual...what the hell is that? (I think it was a nice way of calling me class weirdo). MOST UNIQUE: Cobras ^ He came... He conquered... He left LEAGUE FLIRT: Skirtchasers ^ This could also be construed as class perv, but he wins by name alone MOST CHANGED: Lightning ^ Greg went from middling player to perennial champion since his return to the league in 2012 LEAGUE SHYEST: Fornino's Jets ^ John was so shy that he stayed home (next door) while the "Beavers" manager selected his team at the Inaugural Draft MOST GULLIBLE: Retro Gamers ^ In this year alone (2019), Brent traded away Travis Kelce and Stefon Diggs for Chris Carson MOST QUOTABLE: Jo-T.B. ^ God rest his soul, Joe was always ready with scathing comments (read some of his 2000 Hot-Seat interview) LEAGUE PARTIER: Leprechauns ^ The stereotype of drunken Irishman is real folks! LEAGUE CLOWNS: Lycanthropes/Slicks ^ They are twins and were always good for witty and hilarious barbs in the draft room chats BIGGEST FAILURE: Dirty Daves ^ This dentist showed early promise but then just sucked. I wouldn't let him use anesthesia on you ladies! (just kidding) MOST OVERRATED: ADK Wolves ^ Jim won three championships but somehow it feels like they happened despite himself MOST UNDERRATED: Assassins ^ Could have been a Hall Of Famer but he thankfully disappeared (I always had a difficult time beating that dude) LEAGUE STRATEGIST: Nightshade ^ No one wheels and deals more than Alan MOST LEAGUE SPIRIT: Gladiators ^ Jason is always pumped and enthused about all things "Nightstorm" BEST FRANCHISE NAME: White Death ^ A cooler, deeper name than most of the other franchise monikers MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED: Roll Tide ^ Justin has been on the rise since his rookie year. Your time is near buddy! | |||
| 4 | [Coughing Fit] Ha, ha, sorry. We are in late February 2020, and I'm just coming off a slight cold. You seem pretty healthy this winter though. What do you think of the rumor that the coronavirus from China is heading overseas our way? Many people have mixed opinions on how it will affect the United States and the world in general. What are your political beliefs about pandemics and climate change? Are you prepared if it were actually to take place? | ||
| I'm hoping it is just a rumor, and it isn't going to be that bad, but seeing all the deaths in China is scary. Only fools buy into all that conspiracy theory crap. If it really does happen, I will follow science and do what should be done. Climate change will not affect me like it would future generations even though I do not think it is a huge political issue that would actually change corrupt corporations. 5 | I had a crisis of faith in my fellow owners about five years ago and considered disbanding the league. I set the bar of closure at four championships: the first owner to accomplish this would be "Forever League Champion." Since then, my love of fantasy football and commish duties have grown once again. | What is your opinion on how I was able to keep this league going and not crown you the ultimate champion? I know in your heart you aren't upset because you love my league, but I never got your viewpoint on where you stood on all this. Tell me what you think about our attachment to the league going foward. I remember that conversation well and was shocked when you wanted to disband the league. I remember telling you that this great league was your baby and not to worry about the owners who haven't bought in. Hopefully, you would find others that would fit, and should think it over and have a change of heart. Being crowned "Forever League Champion" was nothing I would have wanted if it meant that this competition would be no more. | I am very happy that the league will go on forever (and maybe four championships won't be enough to be the perpetual champ.) |
